IAF orders probe against officer over Aero-India bribe allegation

IAF has ordered a court of inquiry (CoI) against an officer accused of taking a bribe from a French arms company to better position its aircraft.

NEW DELHI: IAF has ordered a court of inquiry (CoI) against an officer accused of taking a bribe from a French arms company to better position its aircraft in the static display section of Aero-India held in Bangalore last month.

Wing Commander A K Thakur, a transport aircraft pilot who was among IAF officers deployed to oversee the arrangements at the airshow, was allegedly caught demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 from the French company officials for allotting a more advantageous position for its aircraft, said sources.
