I will now speak out against bandhs: Buddhadeb

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said he would not keep silent if a bandh was called by his party CPI-M.

KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday said he would not keep silent if a bandh was called by his party CPI-M.

"I do not support any bandh but at the same time, I am member of a political party. So long I have kept mum. But now I will speak out," he said here at an Assocham interactive session when asked about his reaction on state-sponsored bandhs.

On the issue of gherao, he said it was definitely illegal.

''We will not allow gherao-type agitation to take place in West Bengal,'' the chief minister said.
