I was put in house arrest to prevent from protesting against PM Narendra Modi: Sanjay Nirupam
Mumbai Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam on Saturday claimed that he was put in "House arrest' to prevent him from protesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai today.

“I have been told the police force is to prevent me from carrying out our proposed protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘note bandi’. This house arrest shows the BJP is showing its autocratic behaviour and is totally against democracy.”

According to Nirupam he has been placed under ‘house arrest’ by at least 100 to 200 policemen outside his home.

Nirupam called out to the PM and said that the latter should be answerable to the questions posed by the opposition and should not throttle the opposition voices through such means.

The Mumbai Congress Chief however claimed that in spite of the police presence he would step outside his house and protest against Modi.
