Income Tax department has inspected the accounts of noted builder Hiranandani Group after the CBI conducted raids on their companies two days back for alleged failure to deposit dues towards EPF.

MUMBAI: Income Tax department has inspected the accounts of noted builder Hiranandani Group after the CBI conducted raids on their companies two days back for alleged failure to deposit dues towards Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

"The CBI had asked us for assistance when they conducted the raid and we provided them," an Income tax department officer said today.

The I-T department yesterday inspected the records of Hiranandani group and recorded statements of employees about the group's financial details.

The CBI raids were conducted on April 8 at eight offices of Hiranandani builders and a case of non-payment of dues towards EPF has been registered against them. A case has also been registered against four officials of the EPF department for conniving with the builders.

According to CBI, the case dates back to 2004-05 when the builders, in connivance with the EPF officers, allegedly underquoted the number of employees working under them.
