Gandhi, who participated in a padyatra from Chanmari area to the Raj Bhavan, said: "Manipur is a symptom; you can see that what happened in Manipur is also reflecting in other parts of India. Tribals, minorities, Dalits are feeling uncomfortable under BJP rule."
"I really can't understand why the PM did not visit Manipur. It's a shame for a leader of the country," said Rahul who had visited Manipur a few months back.
Gandhi said the drug menace was spreading rampantly in Mizoram and 259 young lives have been lost due to drug abuse in the state. "Young people of Mizoram are not getting jobs. So, they are getting frustrated and turning to drugs. In the past five years, the MNF government has provided only 2,000 jobs."
Asserting that the Congress had worked for the state's development, he said that with the signing of the Mizo Peace Accord in 1986, the transition of Mizoram from a violent state to a peaceful one had started.
Rahul also talked about the Congress-led government's performance in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh. He said, "The governments have been implementing many beneficial schemes from the health sector to women's welfare to education. Be it the social safety infrastructure in Karnataka, the ₹25 lakh health insurance cover in Rajasthan, or the welfare for farmers and MSMEs in Chhattisgarh, our leadership in the states works with a vision."
"Congress and its state governments have been protecting farmers, small businessmen, workers, poor wage-earners, but the BJP has been attacking them," he said
