I ordered CBI probe into Jnaneswari train accident; after 12 years, there is no Result: WB CM Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday suggested that the Commissioner of Railway Safety should probe the Balasore train crash instead of CBI, and said no attempt should be made at suppressing the casualty figure.

Banerjee, a former railway minister, claimed that a probe by CBI seldom yields useful results in case of train accidents. She cited as example the Jnaneswari Express and Sainthia accident cases in Bengal, where she had ordered a CBI probe. "I ordered a CBI probe into the Jnaneswari train incident. After 12 years, there is no result. Same is the case with the Sainthia accident."
