ISLAMABAD: Former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has claimed that he was the first prime minister of Pakistan who made the Army and the spy agency ISI answerable to the Parliament.


Gilani said he did not repent his decision of reinstating judges of higher courts, deposed by General Pervez Musharraf.

He said President Asif Ali Zardari and he had conveyed to Kayani that the government wants to restore the deposed judges.

While speaking to Geo News, Gilani said he was the first prime minister of Pakistan who made the Army and the spy agency ISI answerable to parliament.

He said there was a misperception in the Obama administration that Pakistan Army did not support the civilian government.

"However, I made (US) President (Barack) Obama realise that all high-value targets in Pakistan were arrested due to close collaboration between ISI and the CIA."

About Abbottabad operation undertaken by the US that killed Osama bin Laden, the ex-PM said it was a failure of the intelligence agencies of Pakistan.

"On the night of operation, I was informed by General Kayani that Americans have intruded into Pakistani areas."

He said he called Foreign Secretary and told him to make arrangements for registering a strong protest it.

He said in fact Pakistan lacks technology and that is why it failed to detect that Americans have entered Pakistani territory.
