I have no flats in Adarsh, says Gadkari
BJP national president Nitin Gadkari said that neither does he own a flat in the controversial Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society nor has he recommended the allotment of one to benefit the party's national executive member Ajay Sancheti.

NAGPUR: BJP national president Nitin Gadkari said here on Sunday that neither does he own a flat in the controversial Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society nor has he recommended the allotment of one to benefit the party's national executive member Ajay Sancheti.
"Neither I nor any of my relatives have flats in Adarsh Society and I have not recommended anyone's name for an allotment too," said Gadkari. "My name has been unnecessarily dragged into the scam, which is completely untrue and misleading."
Gadkari's denial comes after TOI reported on Sunday on a BJP link to the Adarsh scam. The name of Ajay, Abhay and Anand Sancheti appear as joint holders with Sudhakar Madke, who is a driver with SMS Infrastructure Private Limited, among the Adarsh flatowners. The company is owned by the Sanchetis and it has business interests in construction of roads, power infrastructure and coal mining.
It is being speculated that the Sanchetis purchased the flat with Madke, whose monthly wages are Rs 8,500, as proxy. The market value of the flat is currently Rs 5 crore. Madke told TOI that the flat is for his children.
The driver claimed that he had purchased the flat after taking a loan from his employers. However, Ajay Sancheti told TOI on Saturday that he has some many employees and "I cannot recall this driver's case".
Another Sancheti who owns a flat in Adarsh is Paramveer. He is the son of Abhay, a cousin of Ajay's father Shaktikumar. Paramveer is still a student in the UK and does not hold any position in the company, according to Ajay.
