I am unfazed by my defeat: Uma
Bharatiya Janashakti Party (BJSP) chief Uma Bharti, who lost Tikamgarh seat in the assembly polls, asserted here today that she was unfazed by her defeat saying losing an election was no big deal in a democracy.
Addressing a press conference at her residence, Bharti said that in a democracy losing an election was no big deal as many big leaders had lost the elections in our country.
She said that the big Indian leaders who had lost elections included former prime ministers -- Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Bharti said that Vajpayee lost the 1984 Lok Sabha election and later he went on to become the nation's prime minister.
She said the Congress nominee in Tikamgarh was being backed by the BJP as the party desperately wanted to defeat her.
The BJSP leader said that a reign of terror had been unleashed in the Tikamgarh district on the polling day on November 27 and this had led to the killing of one BJP candidate and the defeat of the BJP nominee from Tikamgarh who even lost his security deposit.
Bharti charged the Tikamgarh Collector with ignoring complaints about irregularities in polling and doing nothing about them.
