HuJI chief has hand in 26/11 attacks

Notorious terror outfit HuJI & its chief Ilyas Kashmiri are now in the list of designated terrorists and organizations put out by the US.

WASHINGTON: The notorious terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) and its chief Ilyas Kashmiri now figure in the list of designated terrorists and organizations put out by the US.

Kashmiri is said to have had a hand in a range of terrorist activity in the South Asia, from the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai (where his group find a mention in the audio exchanges between the terrorists and their handlers in Pakistan) to the attack on the CIA forward base in Afghanistan.

Kashmiri has also supported attacks against Pakistani government personnel and facilities, including the 2009 attack against the offices of the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence ( ISI) and the Pakistani police in Lahore, Pakistan that killed 23 people and left hundreds injured, the Treasury department stated in its notification.
