KOLKATA: Acting on a tip-off, the criminal investigation department (CID) of West Bengal busted a arms trafficking racket and unearthed a huge cache of arms from a guest hour near a local market in south Kolkata. The guest house is located at Khidderpore near a famous Fancy market.

The CID team raided the house in the wee hours today and seized around 70 rounds of live cartridges along with arms. The arms and ammunition were stocked in the guest house for a smuggling consignment to Malda’s Kaliachak, added sources.

Three racketeers were arrested from the house. According to sources in CID, it was an interstate racket and it used to deal with Munger made arms. Three of the racketeers belong to Munger in Bihar and they had been into the illegal smuggling of arms in Bengal and other states. The arrested men include Jamirul Hassan of Munger, Bihar and two of his associates Md. Shabbir and Md. Tarif, both from Munger.
