HUDA issues notices to 40 schools

The Haryana Urban Development Authority has issued notices to 40 schools here, which were allotted land on "subsidy."

GURGAON: The Haryana Urban Development Authority has issued notices to 40 schools here, which were allotted land on "subsidy", but were not allegedly providing admissions to students belonging to weaker sections of society as per condition of allotment of land.
HUDA administrator Gurgaon zone S P Gupta said the department had conducted a survey and found that most of the schools allotted land on subsidized rates were "not following" prescribed guidelines of reserving 10 per cent seats for students belonging to economically weaker sections of society and charge fees at par with that of government schools.
He said there was another clause in the allotment letter which stated that 10 per cent seats in the schools should also be reserved for merit students and the fee should be determined on individual basis.
"The management committee of the school should also have one representative of the HUDA as its member," added the administrator.
Gupta alleged that 40 schools were violating these three rules.
