MUMBAI: Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived here on Wednesday evening. The Chinese president was received at the airport by Maharashtra’s marketing minister Harshvardhan Patil and left for a luxury hotel in south Mumbai where he will spend the night.

Mr Hu has a hectic schedule in the country’s financial hub on Thursday, including attending a Chinese-Indian trade and investment summit, officials said.

The Chinese president will meet sisters of Dr Dwarkadas Kotnis, who treated Chinese soldiers during the Japanese invasion of that country in the 1940s, at the hotel on Thursday morning. He will also meet officials of the Chinese consulate general in Mumbai. Hu will leave for Islamabad in the afternoon, the officials added.
