HRD Ministry, department of schools is almost empty

HRD ministry’s school education department is operating at less than half its strength. While secretary SC Khuntia is now Karnataka chief secretary, joint secretary YSK Seshu Kumar completed his central deputation tenure earlier this week. The other JS, J Alam, has already been shifted out to minority affairs ministry. Higher education secretary VS Oberoi is also holding charge of schools.



Ministers facing deadline pressure
Deadline pressure keeps professionals on their toes. Taking cue from IT, PR and newspapers, even Modi ministers seem to follow the deadline trend. At a recent event, a Cabinet minister said PM Modi personally monitor the file movement of Cabinet notes after taking a decision and keeps tab of the implementation. Known as a tough taskmaster, PM is bringing corporate culture in the ‘sarkari’ departments.



Blaming Modi for BP
While much of the BJP leadership is watching as to how demonitisation is affecting the common man, a section of BJP leadership watching its own. So when blood pressure of a senior BJP leader shot up, requiring him a doctor’s visit others in the party smirked and claimed that it could be because of the unaccounted wealth he has accumulated over the years.

The minister was, however, put in check by a no-nonsense bureaucrat who objected to the language being used.
