SHIMLA: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today condemned the terror attack in Punjab's Gurdaspur district and said that such "inhumane" acts will be dealt with sternly.

"This is an attack on the nation. Such inhumane and heinous acts will be dealt with sternly," he said while expressing profound grief over the killing of civilians and policemen in the incident.

A high alert has been sounded in the state following the attack and police have been directed to maintain a high degree of vigil.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the security situation in the state and appealed to the people to immediately report any suspicious activity to police.

Meanwhile, DGP Sanjay Kumar said the state security agencies are on high alert and keeping a strict vigil at all public and religious places.

Four heavily armed terrorists wearing army uniform went on a rampage attacking a bus and a police station complex, leaving at least five persons, including a policeman, dead and several injured in Gurdaspur district bordering Pakistan.
