Housing loan subsidy scheme will give impetus to real estate sector in Assam- Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

“This move will provide impetus to the economy, it will boost the demand and led to the expansion of real estate in the state. This move is in line with measures provided by Union Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman,” Assam's finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
What is expected to give impetus to the real estate sector in Assam, the BJP-led government launched the housing loan subsidy scheme.

Assam government rolled out “Aponar Apon Ghar” scheme where in financial relief will be provided towards purchase or construction of the first house for the family.

Finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that loan amount from Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh will have one lakh interest subsidy. While between 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh the subsidy will be 1.50 lakh, from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh Rs 2 lakh subsidy will be given and from Rs 30 to 40 Lakh Rs 2.50 lakh will be provided.


He added that this scheme is meant for the loan sanctioned in this financial year. “This move will provide impetus to the economy, it will boost the demand and led to the expansion of real estate in the state. This move is in line with measures provided by Union Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.”

The state government also launched education loan interest subsidy wherein subsidy will be provided to children who have availed education loan for pursuing higher education. The one time subsidy will be of Rs 50,000.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also launched Free Drugs Scheme for 651 Tea Garden Hospitals.

Launching the scheme, the chief minister said that most of the tea garden hospitals in the state could not provide medicines to the patients of the tea tribe community and for that purpose, the patients had to bear expenses in procuring medicines.

Under the Free Drugs Scheme for Tea Garden Hospitals 142 essential drugs, 47 surgical items, 45 consumables/linens and 6 numbers of disinfectants would be provided free of cost to the 651 tea garden hospitals of the state. An amount of Rs 20 crore would be spent every year for the scheme.

Sarma said, “ State government is sharing the social cost of tea estates and we gradually plan to takeover health and education in the tea estates.”

Saying that the tea industry had been going through a lean phase in the last few years, Sarma asserted that state government would take all necessary measures to revive this industry which had been providing livelihoods to a large section of the population.
