NEW DELHI: A Parliamentary Committee has drawn attention to the likely confusion between CVC, Lokpal and CBI while dealing with corruption cases due to overlap in jurisdiction and recommended that the CVC and CBI be fully integrated with the Lokpal.

Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, headed by E M S Natchiappan, has made several suggestions for alterations in the Lokpal and Lokayuktas and Other Related Law (Amendment) Bill, 2014. These include the necessary changes to allow the Leader of the single largest opposition party in LS, in case of there being no Leader of Opposition, to become a member of the panel to choose the chairperson and members of Lokpal.

"The Committee has recommended that CVC and CBI be fully integrated with Lokpal and the institution of Anti-Corruption Watchdog be architecturally created vertically with Lokpal at the apex level and CVC and Anti-corruption Wing of CBI integrated with it and working under its control," the report said.
