MUMBAI: The homeless people in the metropolis will be counted tomorrow night for the 15th National Census.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) has already begun the groundwork for the census of the homeless.

"The 24 ward offices have gathered information on the homeless people, who are either found on footpaths, or under the bridges. This floating population moves around the city during the day, and by night they return to their usual places," Additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said.

According to BMC officials, over 20 people per ward will be deputed for counting homeless people between 11 pm and 5 am on February 28.

The BMC started the second phase of Census on February 9.
