Home Ministry issues advisories to states and UTs

NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of serial blasts in two cities, the Union Home Ministry has advised all the states and Union Territories (UTs) to beef up ground level vigilance, particularly in crowded areas and sensitive locations.

The Ministry has also advised states and UTs to increase policing at ground level and ensure adequate measures for maintaining law and order, a Home Ministry spokesman said on Monday. The advisories have come in the wake of serial bomb blasts that claimed nearly 50 lives in Bangalore and Ahmedabad last week.

Meanwhile, the proposed meeting of the state chief secretaries and directors general of police would be held next month followed by a meeting of chief ministers to review the security scenario and discuss measures to tackle terrorism.
