Home Ministry hopes to squeeze out funds for security schemes, says Rajnath Singh
NEW DELHI: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said he had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley regarding the shifting of Home Ministry security schemes to states and said they were working on an "alternative", raising the hopes at MHA of some allocation under the schemes soon.

"We had fund for Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF) which we have to states…in the 14th Finance Commission report, this was finished. There was an Integrated Action Plan (IAP) scheme; that has also been finished. CCTNS has also been finished. I have spoken to the PM and the FM regarding this. We are thinking seriously about how an alternative can be prepared…how to come up with a solution," Singh told the Lok Sabha during the Demand for Grants debate.

He added that MPF was a "very necessary" scheme and wanted police modernisation to take place in the states.
