A senior BJP leader, who does not want to be named, told ET, “Dev’s performance, as indicated by the party's survey, was not satisfactory. Dev did not get requisite votes from the Nagaon Constituency in Lok Sabha polls and BJP was defeated in 2019.”

Hojai is the Centre of RSS activities for Northeast India. Dev is likely to contest the polls independently.
