HMSI workers pledge to cooperate

The company was troubled with labour dispute last month when its contractual workers went on strike demanding regularisation.

MANESAR: Workers at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), which has been dogged by frequent labour disputes, on Tuesday took a pledge to extend cooperation for the smooth functioning of the company and agreed to jointly work with the management in making it a world-class organistion.
The pledge was taken by the workers and the senior management as an endeavour toward setting highest standard in production quality and customer satisfaction.
"This pledge is a symbol of renewed dedication and commitment from both the management and the workers. We hope that the management and the union can work together to create new benchmarks in industrial relations and take the company to new heights," HMSI labour union president Suresh Gaur said.
After witnessing one of the worst labour disputes last year, the company had entered into a one-year agreement with the workers. HMSI renewed this with a three-year contract and also gave its workers a salary hike.
The company was troubled with labour dispute last month when its contractual workers went on strike demanding regularisation. However, the matter was resolved and production is normal now.
