Bombay High Court on Thursday pronounced accused Alistair Pereira guilty in the Carter road hit-and-run case, sentencing him to three years rigorous imprisonment.

MUMBAI: Bombay High Court on Thursday pronounced accused Alistair Pereira guilty in the Carter road hit-and-run case, sentencing him to three years rigorous imprisonment.

Expressing "no sympathy" for Pereira, the High Court held him guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Seven labourers sleeping on the pavement were killed, while eight others are injured in the accident. Of the deceased, two were children and one a pregnant woman.
