NEW DELHI: Delhi University's Executive Council today approved nomination of Governing Body members in 28 colleges funded by the state government, paving way for the appointments which were stalled by the AAP-led government for want of full-fledged GBs.

The state government had freezed all appointments in Delhi University colleges funded by it till the governing body members were appointed in the 28 colleges.

The state government had in April written to the 28 DU colleges funded by it, asking them to stop all appointments until full-fledged governing bodies, which are to include government-nominated members, were in place.

Out of the 15 governing body members for each of the colleges, five are nominated by the government.

"The nomination of the members of the Governing Bodies of 28 colleges were approved in the emergent meeting of the Executive Council today," an EC member said.

The nine colleges are-- Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Laxmi Bai College, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Satyawati College, Moti Lal Nehru College and Kalindi college.

The colleges were sent notices by the AAP government earlier this month after they went ahead with the appointments of principal's violating the earlier directive.

The varsity also revised the PhD ordinance in accordance with UGC Regulation 2009 (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD degree)and UGC Regulation 2010 (Minimum qualifications for Appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in Higher Education).
