Hindu Mahasabha chief Kamlesh Tiwari arrested

LUCKNOW: The prevailing tension in Saharanpur and Deoband areas was eased after Hindu Mahasabha chief Kamlesh Tiwari was arrested late on Wednesday night. A large number of youths had taken to streets to protest against remarks made by Tiwari against the other community.

It was only after the police informed the protesters that Tiwari had been arrested the situation eased and the crowd dispersed. A mob blocked the national highway and also clashed with the police in Deoband.

They were demanding action against Tiwari for making remarks and circulating pamphlets against their community. A police officer was injured during the clashes between the mob and police. The administration had a hard time pacifying the crowd which demanded that action be taken against Tiwari.
