Hindu leaders want law to build Ram temple in Ayodhya

Participants from various Hindu groups also raised slogans, demanding enactment of a law for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

CHANDIGARH: Hindu leaders and members of a city-based NGO Sunday demanded the enactment of a law for constructing a Ram temple at the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya.

"Ayodhya is national pilgrimage centre. Everyone, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, should support the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya as a mark of respect to the sentiments of crores of Hindus," said former union minister of state for home Swami Chinmayananda of Haridwar's Parmarth Ashram.

He was speaking at a 'dharma sabha' (religious meeting) organised by NGO Shri Hanumant Shakti Jagaran Samiti here.

"The Allahabad High Court gave an excellent judgment but unnecessarily ordered a portion of land to Sunni (Central) Waqf Board. So it is necessary that parliament should protect the interest of the majority by passing a resolution to hand over the entire land to Hindus," he said.

Participants from various Hindu groups also raised slogans, demanding enactment of a law for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

A three-judge special bench of the high court Sep 30 ordered the division of the disputed land in Ayodhya into three equal parts - one to Ram Lalla, one to Hindu sect Nirmohi Akhara and one to the Waqf board.
