Hindi name of water resources ministry changed

NEW DELHI: The name of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in Hindi has been changed to Jal Sansadhan, Nadi Vikas Aur Ganga Sanrakshan Mantralaya.

Earlier it was know as Jal Sansadhan, Nadi Vikas Aur Ganga Jeernodhar Mantralaya, a press release said here.

A Gazette notification to this effect has been issued, it added.

It may be recalled that the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) was earlier transferred to the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation from the Ministry of Environment.

NGRBA, including the mission Directorate, National Mission for clean Ganga and other related matters of Ganga Rejuvenation, was transferred to the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

All issues related to conservative, development management and abatement of pollution in river Ganga and its tributaries will be looked after by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga rejuvenation.
