Himanta Biswa Sarma repeating Amit Shah's Jantar Mantar mistakes: CJP's Ashutosh Ranka

GUWAHATI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka said that Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma repeated the same mistake which Union Home minister Amit Shah made at Jantar Mantar and CJP will intensify its movement across the northeast.

Ranka along with 40 other volunteers were detained on Sunday and later released late at night. "The illegal detention by Assam Police has finally ended. We have asked Police to go and drop us from where we were picked up illegally in the first place," Ranka said.

Ranka, along with over 40 CJP volunteers, were picked up by the police from opposition Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) leader Kunki Chowdhury's residence in Guwahati on Sunday ahead of their proposed first regional volunteers' meeting.


Ranka said, "The Assam Police detained me and my team illegally. We asked them on what basis we were detained, but the police said they didn't know, and that they had orders from the top."

He said, " Our meeting was to discuss issues of conditions of schools in Assam and how the rights of the indigenous people of Kaziranga to be protected. Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is afraid of us and used to intimidate us. He forgot that this is the land of Zubeen Da (Zubeen Garg), who fought for what is right. Sarma repeated the same mistake which Union Home Minister Amit Shah did during the Jantar Mantar protest in Delhi."

Ranka said that they will intensify their movement across the northeast

"We are not afraid of Sarma because we are fighting for our rights. We are not afraid of him. We know that he won the assembly election by redrawing boundaries of constituencies making people of a village vote in three different constituencies," Ranka had alleged.

In another post directly addressing the Chief Minister, he said, "Cockroaches of Assam are just getting started!"
