Himachal Pradesh steps up vigil after Gurdaspur terror attack

SHIMLA: In view of the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur today, Himachal Pradesh government issued directions to all police establishments to keep armed personnel prepared for deployment at the shortest possible time at all border check posts.

Directions have also been issued to check all vehicles and persons at check points on these border areas and special vigil is being kept on the movement into the States by persons wearing Army or police uniforms, IG (Administration), Zahur H.Zaidi said.

Further, all the District SPs have been directed to co-ordinate with local Army authorities and maintain strict vigil at all vulnerable places, vital installations, important religious establishments, Bus Stands and other places where large public congregations are expected throughout the State.

Special patrolling on Railway Tracks to check for explosives and improvised explosives devices on Railway Tracks has already been started by the Railway Police.

The public has been requested to report about suspicious movements and persons in any part of the State to the nearest Police Station, he said.
