Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra's daughter marries Amarinder Singh’s grandson

Congress parliamentarian Captain Amarinder Singh's grandson, Angad Singh, married Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh's daughter, Aprajita Kumari, at a grand function in New Delhi on Saturday.

The couple, who are scions of two political and erstwhile royal families, had met while they were studying at elite Lawrence School, Sanawar, some 11 years ago.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were among top politicians, who attended the wedding at Congress MP Ambika Soni's house.

Modi had attacked Virbhadra over graft allegations during Lok polls last year.

He had earlier on February 26 attended another political wedding of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh's grandnephew and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad's daughter in New Delhi.

Former Himachal chief minister and BJP functionary Prem Kumar Dhumal did not attend Angad and Aparajita's wedding.

But other top Himachal BJP functionaries, Union health minister J P Nadda and Kangra MP Shanta Kumar were among the attendees.

Aprajita is a fashion designer while Angad, an MBA, looks after his family's multi-crore sugar mill - Simbhaoli that dates back to 1936.

The groom arrived in a black two-seater Mercedes GLK 250 for the ceremony.
