Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and negotiators of BASIC countries including Brazil, South-Africa, India and China held a high-level meeting with Chinese Vice Premier.

NEW DELHI: Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and negotiators of BASIC countries including Brazil, South-Africa, India and China held a high-level meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli at a Climate meet in Beijing today.

"Had a good meeting today in Beijing with the Vice Premier of China Zhang Gaoli along with Environment Ministers of Brazil and China," the Minister said in a tweet.

"Discussion revolved around the problems faced by BASIC countries and on the outcome at COP21 in Paris," he said.

A detailed meeting of Environment Ministers and negotiators of BASIC countries will also be held tomorrow where issues related to climate change will be discussed.

South African officials and negotiators, Chinese Environment Minister Xie Zhenhua, Brazil's Izabella Teixeira were also present at the meeting.

Javadekar further said that tomorrow "there will be a detailed discussion among the BASIC countries and a statement is expected to be released thereafter."
