High Court quashes Ansal Properties' land acquisition in Ghaziabad village
The writ petitions had challenged the validity of the acquisition by saying that the land cannot be acquired in favour of private companies to construct residential colonies.

The land was acquired by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for the construction of residential colonies by Ansal group.
Allowing a writ petition by one Devaki and others whose land was acquired, a division bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Sangeeta Chandra quashed the acquisition proceedings, observing that GDA had overlooked the government orders as well as the legal provisions in providing land to the private developers and the acquisition was made only to provide benefit to the company.
The writ petitions had challenged the validity of the acquisition by saying that the land cannot be acquired in favour of private companies to construct residential colonies. The court was of the view that the land was acquired for the benefit of a private company, therefore, it was contrary to the law.
