New Delhi: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Chandigarh municipal corporation and city administration on AAP mayoral candidate Kuldeep Kumar's petition seeking re-election under the supervision of a retired HC judge. The court, however, refused to stay the elections.

A division bench of justices Sudhir Singh and Harsh Bunger asked the respondents to file their replies in three weeks. The court was told that record of the elections has been preserved in a strong room.

The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress had reached a pact for the mayoral elections and has 20 councillors in a House of 36. BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar, who polled 16 votes, was declared winner by presiding officer Anil Masih, also a member of BJP's minority cell, after he found eight votes 'invalid'.
