AMRITSAR: BSF today seized 14 kilogram of heroin with an estimated street value of Rs 70 crore, which was allegedly being smuggled from across the International border at Channmulla Sector here.

A BSF night patrol team noticed Pakistan-based smugglers throwing the drug consignment across the border fencing into the Indian side during the wee hours today, an official said.

On being challenged by the BSF, the smugglers fired gun shots but when the forces returned fire, they managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said.

So far no one has been arrested and an investigation is underway to ascertain who was the intended recipient of the consignment, the official said.
