Here's the RK Laxman's cartoon PM Modi was referring to in Lok Sabha

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha. In his reply to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's Address, PM Modi slammed the opposition on various topics.

While speaking, Modi also highlighted an old cartoon by R.K. Laxman.

Modi said, "There was one Prime Minister who constantly spoke about the 21st century... At that time, R.K. Laxman made a very interesting cartoon. That cartoon was a joke back then, but later, it became a reality. It was an example of how that Prime Minister’s words were 'hawa hawai' (empty talk) and disconnected from reality. We are almost 40-50 years late. The work that should have been done decades ago is being completed now. That is why, when the public gave us the opportunity, we prioritized youth development and nation-building."

Meanwhile, Modi also spoke about the development initiatives of the BJP-led government and its efforts to improve the lives of the poor.

"So far, four crore houses have been provided to the poor. Only those who have lived difficult lives truly understand the value of owning a home. In the past, women suffered greatly due to the lack of proper sanitation facilities. Those who already have these amenities cannot fully grasp the struggles of those who don't. We have built more than 12 crore toilets," he said.

Several members participated in the debate on the motion of thanks, which began on Monday.
