First phase
The 8.5 km stretch of the rapid transport Lucknow Metro system from Transport Nagar to Charbagh railway station opened for the public today.
The first phase of the project is set to cost the exchequer Rs 6,928 crore and the second corridor Rs 5,494 crore.
The project is being financed under 50:50 Joint Venture model with equity participation from the Central government and the state government.

20K tonnes of steel used
State-owned SAIL said it has supplied around 20,000 tonnes of steel for the 8.5 km long priority stretch of the North-South Corridor of Lucknow Metro Rail. SAIL has supplied reinforcement bars, structural steel and plates for this stretch and is ready to supply for the remaining stretch.

Upcoming corridors
An 11 km East-West corridor from Charbagh Railway station till Vasant Kunj, is nearing completion. This stretch includes 6.3 km underground network.
