PUDUCHERRY: The Union Territory of Puducherry has declared closure of all educational institutions tomorrow following incessant rains even as normal life was hit due to the squally weather.

Electricity Minister T Thiagarajan said schools and colleges in Karaikal would also be closed as the rainfall continued unabated.

Assistant Registrar of Pondicherry University, K Mahesh, said in a release that examinations for the Medicine, Engineering and MCA courses scheduled for November 16, 17 and 18 have been postponed because of the inclement weather. The fresh dates would be announced soon, he added.

Normal life remains affected as the squally weather continued today in the Union Territory. Official sources said that Puducherry recorded around 5.5cm rainfall during the 24 hours till 8.30 AM today.

Meanwhile, AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan alleged that no minister had visited the rain-ravaged villages even as he sought speedy relief measures to help people hit by the rains.
