Heavy security near Cong HQ, Sonia-Rahul residences

Soon after ED sealed the Young India office at the Herald House here, there was heavy security deployment on the Akbar Road stretch, where the Congress headquarters and Sonia Gandhi's residence are located, and also near Rahul Gandhi's office-cum-residence at Tughlak Lane, making the party circles edgy, even as some senior leaders rushed to the headquarters. Delhi Police have surrounded our HQs, and homes of INC President & ex-President...," party spokesman Jairam Ramesh tweeted.

At an emergency press conference at the HQ, Ajay Maken, Abhishek Singhvi and Ramesh claimed the deployment was aimed at intimidating and pressurising the party in view of its scheduled August 5 demonstration against inflation and unemployment. But some senior leaders wondered whether such a deployment was meant only to deal with Friday's agitation.
