Heavy rains in Western Rajasthan: BSF takes precautionary measures

JODHPUR: The Border Security Force (BSF) has taken precautionary measures along the Indo-Pak border to avoid any untoward incident in the wake of incessant rainfall in Western Rajasthan.

"We have taken adequate measures like arranging the boats and other required material in the wake of heavy rainfall on the border," DIG (BSF) Rajasthan Frontier Ravi Gandhi said.

However, there is no flood-like situation in the border district of Sri Ganganagar, he said.

"But considering the vulnerability of the border at Sri Ganganagar, we have made sure that the heavy rains don't cause any trouble," Gandhi said.

In 2010, the BSF had resorted to boat patrolling on the border at Sri Ganganagar after some border posts inundated following heavy rains in Punjab and Haryana, which had flooded the Ghagghar river.

With upto five feet of water in the border areas in Sri Ganganagar then, five border posts in the sector had submerged, forcing the BSF to patrol the Indo-Pak border areas at Anoopgarh in boats.
