JAIPUR: Heavy rainfall has created flood-like situation in some parts of Rajasthan where six persons have been killed and 57 airlifted so far, officials said today.

Six persons of a family died when a portion of their house collapsed in Baran district yesterday.

The house collapsed leaving Laxmi Narayan (72), his wife Shanti Bai (70) and four others of their family members namely Deepu (18), Anita Bai (26), Aishwarya (10) and Suraj (9) dead, police said.

Four others were also injured in the incident and are admitted at the district hospital, police added.

A total of 33 people were airlifted by Air Force today from two locations in Pratapgarh district while 24 others were airlifted from Baran yesterday, defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said.

Several others are also stranded and rescue operations are on.

"Three persons are trapped at an island in Parvati river. They had gone for fishing in the river but suddenly the water level in the river rose. Efforts are on to rescue them," Baran Collector SP Singh said.

According to Met department, several places in Banswara, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara and Pratapgarh have recorded 23 cm of rainfall and other regions received below 23 cm since yesterday.
