Hearing put off in Babri case, next date is on Oct 26

Hearing in the Babri mosque demolition case was on Tuesday deferred as the notification for nomination of a judge is still to be issued by the Allahabad High Court.

RAE BARELI: Hearing in the Babri mosque demolition case was on Tuesday deferred as the notification for nomination of a judge is still to be issued by the Allahabad High Court.

"The matter was not taken up on Tuesday as a notification regarding nomination of magistrate is yet to be issued by the High Court," prosecution sources said.

The next hearing would take place on October 26, they said.

The special CBI court hearing Babri demolition case is lying vacant after transfer of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gulab Singh, they said.

District Judge had written a letter to the High Court requesting to nominate a judge in the special court, sources said.

A key witness senior IPS officer Anju Gupta, who was deployed as security officer with BJP leader L K Advani, will be cross-examined by the defence counsel when the hearing resumes.
