KOLKATA: A division bench of the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of cases related to the police action in Nandigram on March 14 and said they would be heard by the Chief Justice on April 26.

The bench comprising Justices P C Ghose and B Somadder adjourned the cases, saying it would be appropriate for the regular bench, which had earlier heard the matters, to take up the cases.

Another division bench headed by Chief Justice S S Nijjer had heard the matters earlier, and on March 15 ordered a CBI inquiry to ascertain the facts regarding the police action in Nandigram, where 14 people died and over 100 were injured.

The CBI has already placed its report before the court.

The contents of the report, however, are yet to be made public.
