The Union health ministry has cleared 37 projects worth ₹40.1 crore under the vibrant village programme for Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Ladakh along the India-China border, minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said at a VVP function here on Saturday.

The minister said that pregnant women would receive six antenatal checkups in villages and complicated deliveries would be carried out at an institution. National Health Mission under the ministry will hold camps for medical checkups in these villages, he said.

VVP, announced in 2023, is meant for development of border villages along the China border.

A total of ₹4,800 crore, including ₹2,500 crore for roads, was allocated for 2022-23 to 2025-26. MHA in 2023-24 sanctioned 113 road projects worth ₹2,420.97 crore for Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand. The road projects are expected to boost connectivity along the India-China border and promote tourism. The scheme announced on February 15, 2023, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi covers 662 villages of 46 blocks.
