HC raps CBI for slow probe in Bhanwari Case

CBI said it has some solid proofs and the investigation was on right track. The next hearing is scheduled for November 24.

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court has rapped CBI for not concluding its investigation into the disappearance of health worker Bhanwari Devi. The court has directed CBI to expedite its probe and asked it to submit the next status report in 10 days. Expressing concern over the slow probe, the court said the case should not meet the fate of Noida's Aarushi Talwar murder case.

CBI said it has some solid proofs and the investigation was on right track. The next hearing is scheduled for November 24.

CBI questioned Congress MLA from Luni, Malkhan Singh Vishnoi for the third time on Monday. Vishnoi, a close aide of Mahipal Maderna, is said to have introduced missing Bhawari Devi to Maderna.

Maderna too has been summoned for another round of questioning. He has been evading questioning since Saturday citing severe chest pain and diabetes.

However, the court found his medical report to be normal. The case has turned into a high-voltage scandal which could have political implications for Congress. Bhanwari Devi is alleged to have had illicit relationship with Maderna, son of Jat leader Parasram Maderna.
