Acting on two separate petitions challenging the appointments to the two commissions, the high court on Monday issued notices to the state and the chairperson of the statutory/selection committee that cleared the appointments.
Taking up the matter, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Mohunta and Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal also fixed December 22 as the next date of hearing in the case. Hooda was the chairman of statutory committee that cleared the appointments at the fag end of the government’s tenure.
Former additional principal secretary Shiv Raman Gaur and Rekha Rani, wife of Hooda’s political adviser Virender Singh, were among those appointed as state information commissioners. Ex-chief secretary SC Chaudhary and former IAS officer Sarban Singh were among those appointed to the service commission in July this year.
