Calcutta high court issues notice to centre on aviation safety of Mamata Banerjee

The HC notice, however, followed a public interest litigation by advocate Biplab Roy Chowdhury demanding separate investigation into several aviation incidents involving Banerjee.

A Dassault Falcon 2000 in which the Bengal CM was returning to Kolkata, after campaigning for Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Varanasi, had to make a sharp descent to avoid collision with another aircraft, as a result of which she suffered a back injury, Banerjee had said recently.
The Calcutta high court has sought the Centre's response on questions related to aviation security of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Issuing the notice for a response in two weeks, a division bench of chief justice Prakash Srivastava and Rajarshi Bharadwaj on Monday said the CM's security was a matter of priority.

A Dassault Falcon 2000 in which the Bengal CM was returning to Kolkata, after campaigning for Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Varanasi, had to make a sharp descent to avoid collision with another aircraft, as a result of which she suffered a back injury, Banerjee had said recently.

Following her complaint, a probe was ordered by DGCA and the West Bengal government ordered another probe too. The HC notice, however, followed a public interest litigation by advocate Biplab Roy Chowdhury demanding separate investigation into several aviation incidents involving Banerjee.
