Have read the Lokpal Bill properly, Anna Hazare responds to Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: The war of words over Lokpal Bill between Anna Hazare and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a new turn on Sunday with Hazare saying that AAP leaders may not have read the bill. He was responding to Arvind Kejriwal's comment earlier in the day that "Anna may not have complete information about the bill."

Hazare said he has read the provisions of the bill properly and strongly feels that is good for people and society. He took a dig at Arvind Kejriwal, saying "If AAP feels the bill has shortcomings, it should first accept it and continue with their agitation."

Addressing the media at Ralegan Siddhi, Anna Hazare said the government has agreed to bring the CBI under the Lokpal's purview, which is an important step.

The bill which has been tabled in the Rajya Sabha is in favour of the people of the country. The bill must be passed by both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

"I welcome the bill as it will benefit for the people of the country," the Gandhian said.

"I have nothing to say about Arvind Kejriwal and AAP's stand on the issue," Hazare said.

Hazare thanked both Congress and BJP for supporting the bill but made it clear that he will not break his fast until the bill is passed by the Parliament.

Former IPS Kiran Bedi said the current Lokpal Bill is certainly not 'jokepal', as being referred by Team Kejriwal.
