When pressed further and asked by the television channel whether he would agree to the post if there was a broad political consensus with everybody wanting him to accept that position, he replied that “it would be an honour”.
Murthy retired as Infosys chairman on August 20 this year. Recently, his comment about the poor quality of students entering the Indian Institutes of Technology had triggered a row. He was speaking about the need for overhauling the admission process to the prestigious institutions.
