Hashimpura massacre: Subramanian Swamy seeks probe against P Chidambaram
Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today moved a Delhi court seeking directions for further inquiry into the 1987 Hashimpura massacre.
Swamy, in his application, sought probe into the alleged role of Chidamabaram on the ground that crucial part of the investigation has been deliberately not investigated due to political consideration.
The application was was moved before Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Siddhartha, who is conducting the trial in the case, in which 16 personnel of Provincial Armed Constabulary are facing trial for the killing 42 persons in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
The court has issued notice to the prosecution to file reply on the application by November 23.
On May 22, 1987, 42 Muslim youths were allegedly killed in PAC action during riots in Hashimpura following the opening of the locks of Babri Mosque.
