Agriculture minister Om Parkash Dhankar said Rs 2.5 crore each would be given to Panchayat Samitis and Rs 10 crore each would be given to Zila Parishads for development work.

JHAJJAR, HARYANA: Villages in Haryana will now get star ratings on the basis of their social index, state agriculture minister Om Parkash Dhankar, said here today.

The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, who was addressing the grievances of people here, said: "villages in Haryana will now get a star rating on the basis of their social index".

He said that urbanisation of five villages, each from every assembly constituency in the state, would be carried out under Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram scheme.

He said that Rs 2.5 crore each would be given to Panchayat Samitis for development works and grant of Rs 10 crore each would be given to Zila Parishads.

Apart from this, funds up to Rs three lakh each would be given to all gram panchayats for recurring expenses, he said, according to an official release.
